Approach

We begin with what is already there.

We do not approach a site with a predetermined object or visual language.

We begin by looking closely at what is already present: the landscape, history, culture, natural environment, architecture, movement of people, infrastructure that often goes unnoticed, climate, materials, and surrounding community.

Sometimes the most obvious condition becomes the basis of a project. At other times, a small or overlooked detail becomes the inspiration for something much larger.

We are interested in finding those connections and developing art that allows people to experience familiar places differently.

For us, site-specificity is about learning from a place and allowing it to speak through the work.
