Sixto Cordero
Co-Founder
Sixto Cordero is an artist, designer, and public-art project leader whose work brings together conceptual design, architecture, digital fabrication, construction, and the delivery of complex permanent artworks.
Born in Puerto Rico, he received his Master of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his undergraduate degree in Environmental Design from the School of Architecture at the University of Puerto Rico.
His earlier professional and collaborative experience includes work with Zaha Hadid Architects, SelgasCano, Matter Design, ODB Engineering, and the Norman Foster Foundation. He also co-founded the collaborative architectural practice helloeverything.
Sixto contributed to the development and construction of the Droneport prototype presented at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale, working on the transformation of the project's vault geometry into a buildable system and participating directly in its fabrication and construction.
Alongside maintaining and developing Forma Studio, Sixto has spent a decade at Cliff Garten Studio, ultimately serving as Studio Manager and Technical Director.
Over the course of that work, his role expanded well beyond technical oversight.
He has led major permanent public-art commissions through substantial portions of their complete development and delivery, often managing projects with significant autonomy from design development through fabrication, construction, installation, and commissioning.
His responsibilities have included design and detailing, client and consultant coordination, construction documentation, engineering integration, fabrication oversight, project budgeting, contracting and vendor coordination, schedule management, construction administration, installation planning, field problem-solving, lighting coordination, and final delivery.
This work requires balancing artistic intent with cost, schedule, constructability, durability, client expectations, and the unforeseen conditions that arise when large-scale artwork becomes part of a complex construction project.
At Forma Studio, Sixto brings this experience directly into the practice, allowing ambitious artistic ideas to be developed with a clear understanding of what is required to carry them successfully from concept to completion.
