Co-Founder

Karen Kitayama is an artist and designer whose work spans public art, architecture, research, and exhibition design.

She received her Master of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her B.A. in Architectural Studies and Art History from UCLA.

Her academic and professional experience has included research for OfficeUS, the United States Pavilion at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, work with Kengo Kuma in Tokyo, and participation in the development of LACMA's exhibition California Design, 1930–1965: Living in a Modern Way.

Karen's work is informed by close observation of space, representation, material, and the ways design can alter our perception of familiar environments.

At Forma Studio, she leads the conceptual and visual development of projects and remains closely engaged through their design, material development, and realization.
